Welcome to Crunchy Veggie Mama dot com!
I am Berry grateful you’re here!
I’m Crunchy Veggie Mama by day, and, well, I’m also Crunchy Veggie Mama by night, because let’s face it, parenthood is a 24 hour job.
However, those who don’t call me “Mama” call me Stephanie!
(But you can feel free to call me anything you want as long as it’s not “late for dinner.” 😉 )
~I’m a Plant-Powered Mama on a Mission to share my plant-based-plates, holistic remedies, and natural parenting pursuits, so you too can be living the Happy, Healthy, Holistic life of your dreams.
I’m the mother of a daughter who lives in my heart, (Quinn) who was stillborn at 38 weeks gestation in October of 2015 (physically represented in our lives by our Molly Bear, pictured below), of a son who’s here in my arms (River) who was born in December of 2016, and of a female, rescued pitbull mix named Penny.
I’m also a Peanut Butter addict, a Coconut Oil enthusiast, & I fall hopelessly head-over-heels in love with every dog I see. (Do you believe in love at first sight, or do I have to walk my Jack Russell by again?) 😉
(I actually love dogs so much that in addition to momming & blogging, I am a pet-sitter with Rover dot com!)
My personal mantra is:
“Follow your bliss, and the universe will open doors where there were only walls” –Joseph Campbell
~Here at Crunchy Veggie Mama, I believe in being open & authentic, laughing a lot and connecting with others through our shared life experiences.
I’m passionate about helping others use the healing power of plants, holistic remedies, meditating & mindfulness for their own personal health and the health of their entire families.
What’s my story and why did I choose to create Crunchy Veggie Mama dot com?
Well, it’s actually been an interesting adventure that started back in 2011…
On the drive home after enduring the most mortifying moment of my life, and experiencing a warranted wake-up call (I tell the tale here), I decided that I never wanted to feel the way I was feeling, for another minute, ever again.
I had previously been living in denial, but the reality was that I was a size 22, & weighed 265 pounds.
I was embarrassed & exhausted from faking a smile & from experiencing daily:
-
Depression
-
Anxiety
-
Panic attacks
-
Gastrointestinal distress
-
IBS
-
Inflammation & Joint pain
-
Chronic fatigue
-
Headaches
-
Migraines
-
& more…
I was tired of pretending that everything was okay, because it wasn’t.
So, I stayed up all night.
I cleaned everything out of my cabinets. And I searched & scoured the internet for resources for how to improve my health.
Then I downloaded the app “my fitness pal” to my phone, (For accountability partners and to track & count my calories.) bought two books on Amazon & I started following & signed-up for multiple health-conscious blog’s newsletters…
All in one evening!
And three years later, after reading multiple books & many blogs, with the the support of the community within the “myfitnesspal app” and after a lot of eating and exercise experimentation, I had lost 110 pounds, reversed every one of my mounting heath concerns, and had gained a wealth of holistic healing, and natural living knowledge.
Every time I found-out a bit of information that I found helpful, I needed to know more.
I had made a carefully calculated lifestyle change, and that’s why it worked!
I became my friend’s and family’s “go to” for inspiration and advice. I even eventually found myself working at a local health food store!
It felt so amazing to be sharing my story and to be inspiring and motivating to so many!
More and more people started saying to me that I should “start a blog!” I loved the idea of having a collection of my own recipes and remedies as a resource for everyone asking me how I changed my life and how they too could change their’s. (I even bought a domain name & web hosting!) But the week I zipped my “goal jeans,” I found out I was pregnant with my daughter Quinn, & all of my free time & focus shifted to learning how to have a healthy, organic, natural pregnancy and birth.
So I decided to put the blog on the backburner and I decided that I would resume once she was here. However, it wasn’t to be quite yet, as Quinn was stillborn at 38 weeks, and shortly after, I found myself drowning in a sea of grief.
Fast forward to now, a few years later, and I’ve had my rainbow baby, River and I’ve become my friend’s and family’s go-to for crunchy & natural parenting advice, as well!
~So I decided to create Crunchy Veggie Mama dot com…
A collection of plant based plates, and a community where I can share my:
weight-loss, babyloss, parenting after loss,
& natural parenting experiences…
A place where I can chronicle my continued growth.
A place where we can connect with one another, and where you can be inspired with ways to live the Happy, Healthy, Holistic life of your dreams!
