Farmer's Market Veggies

What made you choose to create Crunchy Veggie Mama?

Since I was a young girl, I’ve answered the question of “What do you want to be when you grow up” with the answer, “I’m not sure what I want to be, but I know that I want to help people.”

So when my life started to go from one filled with panic attacks, anxiety, sickness and struggling to one of health, happiness, solace & success, people started to notice, and they too wanted to know how they could live a similar life.

So I decided to create a space that was open, honest, and humorous… where anyone could come & share in all the information that I had learned in my ongoing transition from “conventional” to “crunchy,” and where we could connect through our common life experiences.

What makes you a “Crunchy Mama?”

“Crunchy mama” is a reference to natural parenting.

(“Crunchy” comes from a reference to the former, “Granola Mama.”)

There are a wide range of practices and beliefs associated with being “crunchy.”

However, I, myself, practice, embrace and am an advocate of: natural birth, unassisted birth, attachment parenting, breastfeeding, babywearing, baby-led-weaning, co-sleeping, bed sharing, cloth diapering, using family & mama cloth, homeopathic medicine, homeschooling, unschooling, using essential oils, eating organic / locally grown foods, and not circumcising. (However, I’m always asking questions, researching & learning more by the day, so don’t hold me exclusively to this list!)

Why “Veggie” Mama?

I love veggies!! I own a pair of veggie-covered leggings and will probably use a head of broccoli as the bouquet at my wedding! (I’m not even joking!) I practice a plant-based (veggie-centric) lifestyle and find that after experimenting with multiple “diets” & lifestyles over many years, veggies are one of the (essential) keys to my personal health and well-being. Here at Crunchy Veggie Mama, I share plant-based, veggie-centric recipes that are fun, flavorful, and fantastic!

And as a mother, I believe that introducing a wide variety of veggies at a young age will influence both a child’s immediate & future food choices! (Which will influence their overall health in a plantastic, positive way!)

What are your views about diets / lifestyles?

I believe that everybody is different and that every body is different! What works well for one person may not work at all for another. I believe it is up to every person to experiment with food to figure out what works best for their own body. I feel that getting to a place of intuitive eating, or listening to what your body tells you it needs is ideal and is one of the integral keys to achieving ideal health.

(Note: Crunchy Veggie Mama dot com is not intended to treat or diagnose any medical cases or conditions. Please consult a medical professional before making any drastic dietary decisions.

I’m not a doctor, and I don’t claim to be. I’m just a woman on a mission to improve her own health and that mission has transitioned to sharing that knowledge with other like-minded, knowledge-seeking individuals. )

Who is Crunchy Veggie Papa?

Crunchy Veggie Papa is my partner, Peter.

He’s the father of our two human (and two furry) children, and the person with whom I’ve chosen to walk next to during our life journeys.

Crunchy Veggie Papa

He is an Executive Chef by trade, (trained at Le Cordon Bleu) and he’s a testament to how this tantalizingly-tasty lifestyle can transform you both mentally & physically! Since we started dating (5 years ago!), he’s lost almost 100 pounds and he has transitioned from full-time carnivore to almost exclusively plant-based! What started out as an attempt to save himself from making two different dinners for us, has transitioned into a lifestyle choice of his own.
